Temporary Interuption

On a temporary hiatus. I've run into a problem with my computer. I'm still taking pictures. Hopefully after I take it in tomorrow everything will be better.

Well right now it's 4ºF here in Ohio. When I was a kid and we had snow days Mom would make tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for us for lunch. Not having much time to make supper tonight after getting engrossed with the images on TV when I woke up today of the plane crash in NYC I thought I'd make this traditional meal from my childhood. Weight Watchers friendly of course. Tomato soup made with skim milk. And the grilled cheese with light Aunt Millie's 5 grain bread and low fat Cabot cheddar cheese. Add an orange and some fat free cottage cheese and it's almost like I'm a kid again.

Over Christmas we watched one of our former foster dogs while his new family visited Turkey where they are from. As a gift Arzu gave me a box of baklava. It had to be the best baklava I've ever had. Nothing like that stuff you buy in the grocery stores. I offered some to my husband and son who turned up their noses, but I had to persist and tell them to try one piece. Well when I went to the box what did I find for my dessert, it was empty. No more baklava. But the closest I can figure is that it was only good for 6 days and I'm sure that me eating the whole box by myself within the 6 days wouldn't have worked into the diet too well. I'm finally starting to loose again, so need to keep it up.

Late last night at work I remembered I had forgot to take my picture for the day. So I took a picture of my 9:30pm snack at my desk. I know, it's not the most Weight Watchers friendly snack, but it's light bread and light peanut butter and all fruit sugar free strawberry jam. And sometimes you just have to have P&J.

Well tonight it's back to work and so I slept most of the day. So I needed to get a picture of something after I got up at 5pm but before I went to work. I made supper with a new recipe I found called Zesty Chicken Saute from a book I've had Cheap, Fast, Good. It turned our really good and I thought I'd take a picture of it. It was super easy and low calorie. Since I started Weight Watchers a year ago I'm always on the look out for a new low calorie easy recipe for chicken breast.

Zesty Chicken Saute
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground allspice
4 skinless boneless chicken breasts
olive oil

Put all of the spices in a 1 gallon ziplog bag. Toss in the chicken and coat. Spray the grill (I used a stove top grill) with olive oil. Cook the chicken till done. Yumm.

Another candle shot. I wasn't real happy with the candle I used the other night, so I bought a new darker candle. I was experimenting with another lens too, but my Tamron 75-300 tele-macro gave me the best picture.

Well the weather men hit it right and we got quite a snow storm overnight and through the day today. I took the dogs out this afternoon and took some pictures of them play in the snow. This is Sheila our ACD leading the pack, with Alfonzo (our former foster dog, now just here while his new family is on vacation), and little Chicklet bringing up the rear. Probably some of the other pictures are better (and I think one is going to be featured on TV tonight since they already published all of the others except for one of Mimi, our one JRT). But this one just makes me smile how they ran down the already broken snow and they lined up by size.

They called me late Thursday from the dog pound. After a lull the past few weeks over Christmas and New Years they had 3 new dogs come in. A chihuahua mix named Angel that wasn't too happy with the newly mobile baby trying to make her into a squeaky toy. And 2 affenpinschers, which is German for monkey dog that were turned in because the people had too many dogs. Well I ran down today and got pictures of them then worked on finding them foster homes. I wanted to get them out today before the bad weather came (they're predicting 8 to 10 inches of snow by tomorrow afternoon) since I wouldn't be able to transport them then. And on Sunday I need to hook up with our boarder's (one of our former foster dogs) family who we've been watching while they were gone over Christmas. So for today I'm posting a picture of Pippi, one of the affenpinschers. Oh and we did hook her up with a foster family and she should be ready for adoption soon. Check her out at Planned Pethood

Well since yesterday's photo was so cold I thought I'd warm things up a bit today. Digital Photography School had an article this week on how to photograph fire and I thought I'd try taking a picture of a lit candle. My husband was all excited because I cleaned off the table top to take it. You don't think I'd clean just to clean do you??? There always has to be ulterior motive behind cleaning for me.

On my way to Weight Watchers tonight I decided to take a picture along Lake Erie, so I pulled into a parking lot behind the Waterworks Park in Port Clinton. I tried a few of the drawbridge, but those weren't too interesting and it was starting to snow. I took this shot looking out onto the lake.

Well like I said I can see there will be days all I manage to get a shot of is my toes (better scheduled that pedicure sooner rather than later). My intentions were to get a picture of the dog I was transporting from the pound to his foster home, but by the time I got there it was late and dark out. Plus he was ouch from his neuter surgery today, so I didn't do that. I tried to get a picture off of the I280 bridge while I was driving over that, but that didn't work. So upon arriving home I decided to take a picture of one of my dogs. I was going to take it of Scout, one of my JRTs,but Chicklet my little Maltese mix planted herself in front of the camera.

After my niece's interview my sister and I took her to eat at the Spaghetti Warehouse While waiting in the lobby I took this picture of a piece of machinery there.

Yesterday I traveled to Columbus with my niece and sister so my niece could compete in the Ohio Fair Queen contest. I got this shot of Columbus at night from our hotel room. I almost forgot to get a picture and after I went to bed I remembered I needed to get one. So even though I was dead tired (had worked all night before and had not slept at all during the day), I got out of bed and took some shots out of the hotel window. I always love the lights of a big city especially from above.

I volunteer with an animal rescue group out of Toledo, OH called Planned Pethood, They have weekly adoption events in an around Toledo, so after working all night instead of going home I went to one of the adoption events and took pictures of the dogs. We have a litter of English Springer Spaniels. The family that had the litter decided when the pups were a couple of weeks old it was too much work and it cost too much money and turned them over to us. We had 4 of the 5 puppies with pending adoptions and one of the adopters was coming today to have first pick. I knew this was going to be my only chance to get them all together for some pictures, so even though I needed the sleep I went and took pictures.

May not have anything posted now until Wednesday. Headed to Columbus for a few days tomorrow after working tonight. My niece is running for Ohio State Fair queen and I'm going to that. I'll be taking pictures there, so will have plenty to post when I get back.

Well my opportunity for a shot came in shortly after midnight at work. The fire alarm went off! So at a little past midnight we had to go out in the cold and wait for the fire department to give us the all clear to go back in. Ended up that someone had pulled the alarm and it was a false alarm.

This is my year in photos. I started it on Word Press but found the format too confining and decided to switch over to this site.

My intentions were to take a photo of where I was and what I was doing when the new year came in. But considering I was at work and the previous shift decided to take it easy and leave work for us to do (they seem to be very concerned that we don't have enough to do on 3rd shift) we were really busy and it was 2am before I realized that I hadn't got the picture. So on my way home from work the sunrise was really pretty and I decided that I'd take a picture of it instead as a Dawn of the New Year. Some mornings the sunrises are so pretty I have an hard time concentrating on driving.
